The West Volusia Historical Society (WVHS) is conducting a live auction of original art done exclusively by Florida Artists. Many will feature Florida birds, wildlife and nature scenes.
WVHS will hold the event at the Bank Of America Building at 230 N Woodland Boulevard in downtown DeLand on Saturday evening OCT. 13th. Doors will open at 6:00 p.m. Auction starts at 7:00 p.m.
Free Florida made-wine, soft drinks, water and light hors d’ oeuvres. Admission $20 for WVHS Members, $25 for non-WVHS members. There will be a ten-percent buyer’s premium on all sales. Tickets are now on sale at the West Volusia Historical Society, 137 W. Michigan Ave. DeLand. Seating is limited.
Recent additions to the auction include two original ‘highwaymen’ paintings; one by Livingston Roberts and one by Hezekiah Baker.
Over 100 pieces of art will be offered for sale in a live auction format. Entries include paintings in oil, acrylic and watercolor as well as photographs, fine jewelry, mixed-media and 3D art pieces. Eighteen artists have already submitted pieces for the auction. Thirty-two paintings, done by contemporary Florida Artists, will be auctioned as well. “This event is new to the area.
It benefits the artists that get great exposure for their work and we hope it will become an annual event.“ said Frank Johnson, executive director of the West Volusia Historical Society. “Additional artists are signing on every day.”
Mary Lou Peffer, president of the WVHS said, “We have so many wonderfully talented artists in this area and this is a great way for them to show off their talents. And it’s a great way for West Volusia businesses and residents to acquire a Florida piece or two for their home or office.”
Donations of Florida-made products are still being solicited including beer, wine, water and other Florida-made products. Contact WVHS at 386-740-6813.
