Downtown DeLand is an award winning Florida Main Street community where we have learned to cherish our past while planning for and moving into the 21st Century. DeLand has many dedicated businesses and individuals working daily to maintain a lively and economically successful downtown.

DeLand was the first community to receive the Main Street designation in Florida and was recognized as a “Great American Main Street Award” winner in 1997 by the National Trust for Historic Preservation Main Street Center. Rufus Pinkney Mural Unveiled!

The mural honoring long time DeLand icon Rufus Pinkney was presented to the public on Saturday, September 8th. Rufus operated a shoe shine business in Parking Lot #4 for nearly 40 years.  The  Mural is located in Parking Lot #4 off of East New York Avenue.

Over 80 different individuals, organizations, and businesses have contributed to the mural fund. Here are major donors:  Fred Mezydlo, Quilt Shop of DeLand - Judy Hansen, Dr. Mac Steen, Commissioner Jessica Davis, Greater Union Baptist Church, Mt. Calvary Free Will Baptist Church,

$500 Donors: M & K Used Auto Parts - Tim McMillon, Florida Hospital DeLand

$1000 Donors: DeLand Breakfast Rotary Club, Maria’s Travel - Paul and Maria Jones,
