Gearing up to Meet the New Year
Like you, MainStreet DeLand is gearing up to meet the new year. Part of that is welcoming new Board Members. Our newest directors were sworn in by DeLand Mayor Robert Apgar at the MainStreet Annual meeting in January. Our newest Board Members are Steve Evans of the Abbey; Waylon Niece, The Neighborhood Center; Don Liska, Sweet Lics; and Christa Yates, Ms. Preppy Pants Consignments.
The MainStreet Executive Committee includes: Ben Collins, President; Geof Felton, President Elect; Kelly O’Leary, Secretary; Richard Prescott, Treasurer and Savannah-Jane Griffin, Past President. Kelly Canova, Courtney Ford Hamil, and Melisa Reed serve as At Large members. A complete list of Board Members is listed on our website at www.MainStreetDeLand.org.
Our year is off to a great start with two successful events already accomplished. The Taste of DeLand in January brought 23 restaurants together to offer delicious samples of their popular dishes. On February 1st, The DeLand Craft Beer Festival featured more than 90 Brewers together. Craft Beer aficionados among the most passionate people you’ll ever meet. They love talking about the beers they make.
Coming up next for MainStreet is the DeLand Bike Rally on March 7th and the Florida Wildflower and Garden Festival on March 28th. Don’t miss the Krewe of Amalee Mardi Gras Dog Parade on February 22nd.
There is plenty more to come. The Main Street DeLand Association will be celebrating its 35th anniversary this year. We have a rich history of success and we continue to prepare for the future.
