The West Volusia Historical Society Presents: Conversations at the Conrad.
Step back in time to meet Sue Ella Summerhill, a remarkable woman who embodied resilience and determination in early 1900s DeLand. After selling her Kentucky farm, this young widow journeyed south with her eight children to join her sister Nancy, facing the challenge of building a new life with limited resources. Her legacy lives on through her youngest child and only son, Jim Ed, who later became DeLand's mayor and co-owner of Allen-Summerhill Mortuary. Master storyteller Cheryl Floyd of the DeLand House Players brings Sue Ella's inspiring journey to life in this captivating performance. Don't miss this opportunity to experience a powerful story of perseverance that helped shape our community.
