Gary Lichtenstein is a visionary in abstract painting and silkscreen printmaking, known for his bold use of color and fearless experimentation. His 200+ oil-based paintings explore light, color, and visual impact, embodying the principles of abstract expressionism. Equally influential is his 45-year career in silkscreen, collaborating with over 100 artists and pushing the medium’s expressive possibilities—early inspiration came from rock poster artist Bob Fried, whose psychedelic prints for bands like Pink Floyd and the Grateful Dead expanded the boundaries of screen printing. This exhibition highlights works from Lichtenstein and his collaborators, including Cey Adams, Futura, Robert Indiana, Jessica Stockholder, and more. His work is held in major collections, including MoMA, SFMOMA, the Smithsonian, and the Art Institute of Chicago.
