Local History Talk, The Timucua of Northeast Florida

  • WVHS Conrad Educational & Research Center 137 West Michigan Avenue DeLand, FL, 32720 United States (map)

Long before air conditioning and lawn flamingos, the Timucua inhabited most of what is today Central and North Florida. What did they eat? What were they like? How did they live? Where are they now? How do you even pronounce Timucua? These questions and many more will be answered about some of our state’s earliest residents and their interactions with the natural world around them. Presenter is Felipe DePaula, curator at the Ponce Inlet Lighthouse and Pacetti Hotel Museum.

Conrad Educational & Research Center, 137 W Michigan Avenue, DeLand. 6:00pm.

Admission is free and open to all ages.
