Unabashed and daring, bold and bright, Michel Delgado’s concern about the human condition is apparent in all he paints. Tragedy, abuse, the mundane moments of everyday being, the happiness we know, the fears we keep at bay, the stories of life. Each is painted with an intense energy that literally flows off the canvas to permeate hearts and minds.
Michel Delgado was born on the west coast of Africa, in Dakar, Senegal. Throughout the 1980s, he lived in Paris, exploring and participating in the city’s art scene. He immigrated to the United States in 1988, and now works and creates in his studio in Chicago and South Florida. His work is represented in private collections throughout the nation, and is part of the public collections of the Plains Art Museum in Fargo, North Dakota and the American Visionary Museum in Baltimore, Maryland.
Opening reception on April 21.
