When you think of Summer fun, hopefully Downtown DeLand comes to mind! The month of July featured two of our favorite events. All long month people were downtown asking, “Where’s Waldo?” A special thanks to the Muse Book store for organizing it again. Tropical Nights brought us more rain! Thanks for those who showed up.

August features our recurring monthly events: Build Your Business Group, Wine, Women, and Chocolate, the DeLand Cruise-In, and Tech DeLand. We are also taking vendor applications for the DeLand Craft Show. You can find all the information you need at www.MainStreetDeLand.org.

This summer has been a little quieter than usual. It’s been hot for sure, but remember your downtown merchants and restaurants need your support all year long.

MainStreet DeLand brought home a few more awards at the Florida Main Street Secretary of State Awards Banquet. Merit Awards were won by the West Volusia Tourism Advertising Authority for Outstanding Public Private Partnership, Melisa Reed for Outstanding Florida Main Street Supporter, and our Economic Vitality Committee for Outstanding Economic Restructuring Program. I was surprised at the banquet that the City of DeLand was recognized as an Honor Award Winner for Outstanding Florida Main Street Public Improvement for the Georgia Avenue Streetscape. All were well deserved.

Congratulations to all our winners. When everyone works together, good things happen!
