Heading Toward Fall
One thing to keep in mind during the summer months is that air conditioning is one of the best things since sliced bread! I was told that air conditioning doesn’t cool the air, it removes the heat from the air and my favorite part is as the air cools, the humidity goes down too. You’ve just got to love it.
As you can imagine, all of our downtown businesses have air conditioning! That ought to make you smile. You can shop and dine downtown and be cool. It might be better said, “Shopping and dining in downtown DeLand is cool.”
August is Back to School Month. At MainStreet DeLand, we’re gearing up for our fall events that include our Craft Show, Veteran’s Day Parade, Fall Festival of the Arts, and Haunted Hollow. These events offer great opportunities for students to get their volunteer hours. You can join our Volunteer List at MainStreetDeLand.org.
Loving your town and supporting your local businesses is a year ‘round activity. We’ve had 16 months to find ways to keep you and our staffs as safe as possible from the coronavirus that continues to affect all of us in one way or another. Some of our businesses are still looking for additional staff. Know any talented folks?
In addition to events, MainStreet is working to find ways to support businesses and property owners, ways to maximize Downtown’s benefit from Sunrail when it comes to DeLand, and planning to bring next year’s Florida Main Street’s conference to town.
So, Downtown is a “cool” place to Shop, Dine, and Be Entertained. There’s a lot more information at www.MainStreetDeLand.org.
See you Downtown,
