Shopping Local is Cool!

Congratulations to our graduating seniors! Whether you are ending your high school or college career, who hope that DeLand is becoming the town you will want to come back to. DeLand continues to have growth in jobs in a variety of industries and DeLand offers many of the things talent desires in a community when searching for a place to call home.

According to the 2019 The National Citizen Survey, our local survey results rank DeLand very highly when compared to other communities in categories such as: Vibrant Downtown, Opportunities to Attend Cultural Events, Place to Retire, and Sense of Community just to name a few.

Congratulations to The Studio Creative Group located in Downtown DeLand. The Group’s “We are HER” won this year’s Telly Award for the best Activism Film in Social Media. Not only that, but after a worldwide search for a production company, the Group was selected to produce a series of commercials to manage the media launch for an Australian retailer expanding into South Africa. Some of those commercials will be filmed here in DeLand. Nice for them and us.

As you plan your Summer, keep Downtown DeLand and West Volusia in mind. There’s plenty to do in our area all year long. You’ll find a list of activities on the MainStreetDeLand.org website in our Shop, Dine, Be Entertained section. Click on “Things To Do” and you’ll find links to 15 fun and educational places here like museums, walking tours, and art on the street. Check out the links to West Volusia Tourism and the River of Lakes Scenic highway for lots to do in our area.

Of course, you know our amazing shops and restaurants are open this summer. All of our businesses are air conditioned. Imagine that! It’s never too hot to come downtown. In fact, shopping local is cool!
