A Community of Support
Some say we are fortunate to have a thriving downtown. We are! We are fortunate that we have a community with so many people doing so much to make and keep it that way. The MainStreet Approach to a revitalized downtown commercial district started with the community coming together. These partnerships and self-help attitudes led to great festivals and events, art on the street, flowers in pots, live performances, great shops and restaurants, and more. Thanks for doing your part! If you’d like to do more, get with MainStreet DeLand or one of the other amazing groups in DeLand and find your way to contribute.
May is Preservation Month. Be on the lookout for the “This Place Matters” signs scattered throughout the Downtown Historic District. If you see a sign, take a selfie with it and post it on your favorite social media platform using the #ThisPlaceMatters and #MainStreetDeLand hashtags.
May 5th through 11th is Small Business Week. There’s no better place to support a Small Business than in DeLand. Especially the shops and restaurants located in your Main Street district! Shopping in our small businesses lets most of the dollars you spend stay right here in the community where they can do the most good.
On May 16th we are hosting our 2nd Google Workshop. Google presenter Pamela Starr returns to DeLand to help our local businesses understand and get the most out of their online presence. Admission is free but a ticket is required. Go to www.MainStreetDeLand.org to register. While you are at our website, check out the schedule for Tech DeLand and our Build Your Business Group meetings.
MainStreetDeLand.org is where you can find the calendar of events for downtown. Our website also links to the calendars of Stetson, the Athens Theatre, the Sanborn Center, West Volusia Historical Society, and Museum of Art- DeLand.
See you downtown!
