Start Early & Shop Small This Christmas
Have you noticed how quickly Christmas is approaching? It’s like we skipped Halloween, want to move on past Thanksgiving, and get to the big day as fast as possible. Hallmark is already showing their popular Christmas movies 24/7. Retailers are already displaying their Christmas wares.
This year, with all the talk of backed up cargo ships and trucker shortages are you are being encouraged to start your shopping earlier than ever. A local retailer reported the recent delivery of an order placed in July 2020. Retailers large and small, online and local, face the same problems. The whole supply line has been affected and is not expected to stabilize until well into 2022.
For a stress free shopping season, you can’t go wrong with starting early and shopping small. Downtown DeLand’s shops offer a variety of unique gift opportunities. Books, fashions and accessories, local art, games & toys, computers and more are in stock and ready to make your gift buying easy.
MainStreet will have several promotions going throughout the Holiday Shopping season including our 3rd Annual Brick Before You Click, with two opportunities to win big! To stay up to date, go to www.MainStreetDeLand.org and join our weekly eblast or follow us on Facebook. Also on our website, you can become a member of MainStreet DeLand Association or you can donate to our 36th Anniversary Fundraiser.
In addition to gearing up for Christmas, November 13th is the Volusia County Veterans Day Parade so come downtown at 10:00am to honor Volusia’s Veterans. The Fall Festival of the Arts is on the 20th and 21st.
Small Business Saturday is November 27th, Santa comes to Light Up DeLand on Friday December 3rd and the Rotary Christmas Parade is on the 4th.
Remember to Shop Small this Holiday Season! It not only supports small business; it supports your community. More of your money stays here where it can do the most good.
We are looking forward to seeing you Downtown this Holiday Season.
