Coming Back

Welcome Stetson Students! We’ve missed you. We hope you’ve made the best of your extended time away. The Downtown businesses have worked hard to provide a safe environment for you as you come back to town.

A few things are different. You’ll find a few new businesses have opened and you’ll find some have different hours. But, you will find a community that welcomes your return. Check out MainStreetDeLand.org or search social media to find your favorite shops and restaurants.

Our event schedule continues to evolve. Events like the DeLand Craft Show and the DeLand Fall Festival of the Arts have been cancelled because of the coronavirus. Other events are being considered for cancellation or becoming virtual events. At MainStreet DeLand, we have been working to support and promote the Downtown businesses and to keep them up to date on changes as they take place.

Restaurants offer indoor dining at 50% capacity and outdoor seating with social distancing, curbside pickup, and takeout dining. An easing of regulations allows for restaurants and pubs in the Central Business District to sell drinks for open consumption on Fridays and Saturdays between 5pm and 10pm. When the weather cools, street closures will allow for expanded outdoor dining.

MainStreet DeLand has been working to make DeLand strong for 35 years. As you might imagine, we’ve been too busy this year to celebrate our anniversary. Great downtowns don’t happen by accident. So, starting this month, we are going to take some time to remind you about these last 35 years and to ask for your continued support.

I want to thank those of you who are buying local and supporting our downtown community. You are awesome! Because of you, DeLand remains strong even in times of crisis such as the virus we continue to battle or a tornado that brings destruction our way.

Whether you are shopping or dining, our goal is to make your experience in Downtown enjoyable and safe. We hope to see you downtown soon.
