Connecting people to place is integral to a successful historic preservation program. Determining what places matter most to a community requires more than the evaluation of contributing or non-contributing resources. Developed out of an essential need to integrate historic preservation into disaster planning, this community-based approach to cultural resource prioritization can also be an effective preservation planning tool. This session will provide attendees with some basic tools to assess and communicate the value of historic places and cultural heritage within a multitude of planning frameworks.
