Historic Preservation programs in local communities may not often be well-funded. We often have to get by with a little help from our friends. During my time with local government, we were able to meet our historic preservation goals through grant-funding, such as the Division of Historical Resource’s (DHR) small matching grant program, and our relationships with local, State, and Federal partners. These opportunities allowed us to further our goals through local surveys, historic rehabilitation projects, archaeological and historical resource interpretation programming, and special events, and this is just the tip of the iceberg for opportunities. While applying for grants can be very competitive, there are grant funds out there to help your community meet their goals, and we will highlight a few of them in this session.
