Summer fun in Downtown DeLand

When you think of Summer fun, hopefully Downtown DeLand comes to mind!  The month of July featured two of our favorite events.  All long month people were downtown asking, “Where’s Waldo?” A special thanks to the Muse Book store for organizing it again.

Tropical Nights was about as fun as a night needs to be.  A firetruck spraying water, hula hoops, hop scotch and more created great memories for the kids that attended.  I can’t say I was ever sprayed by a fire truck, can you? Steel Drum music filled Indiana Avenue and adults were able to check out a few vendors and show off their tropical attire, including hats that were entered in the “Tropical Hat” contest.

August features our recurring monthly events: Build Your Business Group, Wine, Women, and Chocolate, the DeLand Cruise-In, and Tech DeLand. We are also taking vendor applications for the DeLand Craft Show.  You can find all the information you need at www.MainStreetDeLand.org.

Our friends at the DeLand Area Chamber of Commerce are hosting a Hob Nob on the 14th where you will have the opportunity to meet and greet candidates in Downtown DeLand. More information is available at www.DeLandChamber.org.

We continue to add more useful content to our new website.  Be sure to take a tour.  You might be surprised what you find, especially if you’re thinking of opening a business downtown or you’re looking for activities to do.

Also, download Distrx from your App Store.  Distrx is your Downtown App with lots of great links.  People all over the country are using this one app in their town and whenever they visit other Main Street communities. This might be the only Downtown App you need.

Downtown is a big deal!  Thanks for your continued support for our small businesses.  You should come downtown soon to check out our newest businesses that opened in the last few weeks.  There’s always something happening in DeLand.

See You Downtown,
